Hello! I’m Miles Horner, a student at Wesleyan University. I’m from New York City, and have lived there all my life. Deeply embedded with on campus-activism around food justice, interconnected networks of oppression, and visual culture studies, I’m a committed and focused worker.
I’m a Junior Science and Technology Studies (STS) major, with concentrations in psychology and anthropology.
Interdisciplinary Researcher, Organizer, Writer & Farmer.
Through my work with the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project (S.T.O.P.), I researched the NYPD’s Domain Awareness System (DAS), an interconnected network of sensors, predictive policing algorithms, and surveillance cameras.
With the Moses Weitzman research institute, I’m part of a team working on a systematic literature review on cancer screening practices for transgender and non-binary individuals. Publication Incoming.
Through Wesleyan’s Black Box Labs, I conducted a research project into AI development, learning how Large Language Models are constructed, as well as possible avenues for improving AI through incorporating humanities methods into their development.

I consider emic-based ethnographic observation to be my primary research method, and it’s part of why I work with our on-campus farm and in organizing people.
I’m always interested in learning more about the world, getting involved with local NYC organizing, or meeting new people! Shoot me an email at mhorner@wesleyan.edu.
